Keeping your Aperture library organized
I'm definitely not the expert at keeping everything organized, but simply creating new "Projects" in Aperture every time I import photos is unsustainable. Projects just kept getting stacked up and I couldn't find the photos I was looking for anymore. I finally found a solution that is working a lot better. What I did is to create folders for each year and I also added the month number before the name of each "Project" like this "12 - name of the project". Using this system, I get a library with each project organized by date. I can also "close" a folder (that includes a year's worth of photos) to keep my sidebar as clean as possible. Creating the folders at first is tricky, because if any "Project" is selected, the folder created will be a sub-folder of the "Project". There is no obvious way to unselect Projects to create main folders. The only way I found is actually to close Aperture and when I reload it, no project is selected, so I create all the folders I want to create then.
