Easily changing the icon of a file / application / folder

Posted by d_tremblay 308 days ago Finder
I was looking for a way to change the icon of an application the other day, and I couldn't believe how the solution was simple. First, I had to find the icon I really wanted. Once I found a file that had an appropriate icon, I did a Command-I (to get info). I clicked on the icon of the file and pressed Command-C (for copy). Then I went the file that needed the icon to be changed. I did a Command-I to get the info. I clicked on the current icon (the one I didn't liked). I pressed Command-V (for paste) and voilà, the file had the new icon. So basically you can copy the icon of any file, application or folder to another file application or folder using this technique.

Even easier. Open the Info window of the file whose icon you wanna change and drag the icon you want on top of the old one in the Info window.

Thank jepine. You are right, that is even easier. There are so many "hidden" ways to do things on the Mac.
