Controlling iTunes and QuickTime with your iPhone earbuds
After some Googling, I realized that this is not entirely new. It seems to have came out about a year ago but since it requires the right combination of hardware, I just discovered it. With Leopard and all new Macs that were released starting with the unibody laptops, the headphone jack now recognizes the three connectors on the iPhone earbuds. What this means is that it is now possible to control QuickTime and iTunes using the built-in button. These Macs will also recognize the built-in microphone, which is very useful for Skype or VoIP (sound quality is better than the Mac's built-in mic).
